Revelation
12:11, "And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the
word of their testimony."
Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary
defines testimony as "witness; open acknowledgment; first hand
authentication of fact: evidence; a public profession of religious
experience (1205)." A saint's testimony is all of this and much more
than what Webster could define. It is something that is very deep and
meaningful, not only to the saint who experienced it, but also to those
saints who have experienced the testimony by hearing it recounted. Even
when a saint dies and leaves this world to be at rest until the Lord calls
His beloved Church home, the saint's testimony lives on as if that person
were still alive in the physical body. It is common place for the pastor,
in a sermon, to recount a deceased saint's testimony, or for members of
the Church to recall the testimony of particular saints that have gone on,
and tell how they were touched and strengthened by them. The following
testimonies from the Saints of Life Tabernacle will take their place as
eternal monuments to God's grace.
Testimonies are accounts of victory
through Jesus Christ, the One God and Savior, who gives us the strength
and power to be overcomers. They are monuments to faith in action, as well
as change. A testimony also shows what can be accomplished through having
a desire to cast off the wretched hopelessness of a life without God, for
the wonderful peace and joy that the Holy Ghost brings, and the knowledge
that we will one day, when time is no more, be with God Almighty our
Savior forever. As the Apostle Paul personally testified about his life,
which was fought with persecution and hardship, in 2 Timothy 4:8: "I
have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the
faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which
the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me
only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
What a wonderful testimony for a saint of God, and one which we can all
claim if we are prepared as the scripture has instructed us in Acts
2:38-9!
