"The first time that I went to Life Tabernacle, I laughed at the people, but I liked the spirit in the Church. I didn't really want to go back, but my friend Leona Yother, who is now my wife, talked me into returning for a second visit. On this second visit, I remember that the Kelley Family Trio was singing the Kingsmen Quartet song, "The Cross Has Won Again." While they were singing, a brother took me by the hand and I, of my own free will, followed him to the altar, where I repented of my sins, and I immediately wanted to be baptized in Jesus' name. I was led by one of the brothers to the changing room, to put on the baptism clothing, and shortly, thereafter, I was baptized in Jesus name, and emerged from the water speaking in tongues."

"I felt so much better after I was baptized, as if God had took the weight of the world off of my shoulders. The cigarettes that I had, well, they felt like they were burning a hole in my pocket, and that night, I threw them away! God took that nasty habit from me after 27 years! I testified to the Church that I was a miracle, because I was previously of the Catholic faith and now I had the Holy Ghost, was baptized in Jesus' name and I no longer had the desire to smoke cigarettes!"
